Fall Classic Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting 11-inning matchup that saw the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a aggregate over 50 million spectators across the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB stated this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured over 27 million audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% increase compared to the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game landed in 13th place.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership was 16.1M. The overall World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen different tongues.
